TEHRAN, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani inaugurated four phases of the giant South Pars Gas Field on Sunday, Financial Tribune daily reported.
Iran invested 11 billion U.S. dollars in the development of the four phases, Rouhani said in the inauguration of Phases 13 and 22-24 of the gas field.
According to the report, each phase has a daily production capacity of 56 million cubic meters of sour gas, 50 million cubic meters of methane, 400 tons of sulfur and 75,000 barrels of gas condensate.
Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the projects on Sunday, Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh also said that Iran will produce over 750 million cubic meters of natural gas from all South Pars phases by March 2021.
The South Pars/North Dome field is a natural gas condensate field located in the Gulf. It is the world's largest gas field shared between Iran and Qatar.
With the new phases now operational, 23 phases of South Pars have come on stream and only Phase 11 remains incomplete.
